Many of you may be pleased to know that Apple and Sprint are working together to launch a ‘Sprint-specific’ iPad in the coming months. This has been confirmed by the 9to5Mac as well. Now, if the 4G iPad is as well included in the Sprint arsenal, it will be a bonanza situation for the customers of Sprint.
What 9to5Mac say about the joint operation of Apple and Sprint is really heartwarming. They claim that a Sprint compatible iPad is nearly ready for public consumption and will be joining the family of Verizon capable and AT&T GSM tablets before the holidays.
You may be surprised that Apple considers it necessary to make a special iPad for the Sprint network. After all, Apple already has a CDMA iPad in the Verizon network. However, considering that Sprint currently operates a 4G WiMax based network, it becomes necessary that a specific iPad be made to make it compatible to the network.
For the future, Sprint has already announced its plans of launching an LTE network. LTE is the advanced version of the 4G network, which will enhance the capabilities of the current network manifolds, both in terms of operating speed as well as carrying data.
Although the LTE network is still far off, it does mean there will have to be separate Apple products for Sprint for utilizing their LTE network.
Some of you, who are not familiar with Sprint, may be wondering what the fascination with Sprint could be. Well, Sprint provides some of the industry-best unlimited data plans. There are a lot of people who have signed up for the Sprint plans and several more are eagerly waiting to know if Sprint will be carrying forward similar plans for the iPad 3. For now, they will have to wait.
Apple is following the right path by adding a Sprint specific iPad to the network. This will certainly boost its tablet market domination. Who knows, maybe this could open up the doors to additional new products for Apple to make in the future.
